  • Dearness Allowance (DA)

DA is an allowance given to adjust for the cost of living. It varies based on where you work and is also fully taxable. DA typically ranges from 30% to 40% of the basic pay. 

Note:

DA is provided to government and public sector employees – not those in the private sector.

  • Leave Travel Allowance (LTA)

Leave Travel Allowance covers travel costs for employees and families on leave. It’s tax-exempt up to actual travel expenses provided by the employer. Proof of travel is needed, limited to two trips in four years.

  • House Rent Allowance (HRA)

  • Conveyance and Medical Allowance
